Autumnal Bliss

Autumnal Bliss

As if Georgia could get any more beautiful, along comes fall with vivid oranges and yellows and a break from those 90-degree days. We couldn’t be more excited that fall has arrived and brought with it everything we so love about the season. Perhaps our favorite part of fall, aside from apple cider, of course, is that it’s time to add some fun décor to our homes! We’ve put together a few of our favorite ways to decorate for autumn.

Autumn Décor

Much how multi-colored twinkle lights and red garland indicate that the holidays are near, decorating your home with plaid prints and fall harvests indicates a change from a brutal summer to a cooler autumn. Many people confuse fall décor for Halloween decorations, but fall is so much more than just a holiday. To fully achieve a cohesive fall design, Country Living suggests adding a few finishing touches to your home that make a big impact.

  • Dining Room: An often underutilized space, adding fall touches to the dining room may be just what you need to breathe life into your dining room. Simple centerpieces with white pumpkins and fallen leaves add a rustic charm that exemplifies fall. You can also use bent twigs and stray berries as napkin holders and a plaid table runner to bring the look home. Remember not to get carried away as you want your guests to have room on the table to eat
  • Color Schemes: Contrary to popular belief, autumnal colors go far beyond orange. Shades of red and plaid prints are appropriate for fall and pair well with deep hues to add interest and color to any room. Stripes can also work for fall granted they complement the rest of the design. Incorporate these colors and prints in pillows and accessories for a subtle elegance
  • Pumpkins: Made popular initially by Halloween, pumpkins have come a long way. Country Living utilizes pumpkins in a more creative way to create an upscale fall feel. How? Add lace over the stems, use stencils to create prints (like chevron or polka dots) and don’t be afraid to paint your pumpkins. White pumpkins are gorgeous and make quite the statement!A stack of three to five pumpkins on the porch are truly representative of fall and create an inviting vibe. If you’re hoping to be a bit more rustic, find an old wooden barrel to fill with pumpkins, corn and gourds. Please it next to a rocking chair. When using pumpkins on the interior, use small ones that are appropriate for the space and use them sparingly. You don’t want to overpower the rest of the design elements.
  • Wreaths: Wreaths seem to come in all shapes and sizes and are a staple for any season. To make a fall wreath, gather leaves or twigs and head to the craft store. There are a million different ways to craft a wreath! Just make sure to keep it simple and representative of the season. A wreath full of flowers is more appropriate for summer
  • Blankets Everywhere: Nothing says cozy like flannel blankets. They’re warm and colorful and great for cuddling. Drape throws over chairs or porch rocking chairs for an instant fall feel. We’re personally fans of gather three or four warm blankets and throwing them in a basket next to the couch for easy access

Bring it All Together

Now that you know all the tips and tricks to completely transform your home into a fall oasis, make sure you bring it all together for a cohesive design. Use similar colors in your décor to create a flow and you’ll be good to go. Once you’re done, sit back and enjoy a nice mug of hot apple cider.
